Reverent's Origin Story: The Park Days

Updated: Sep 26

With this being our first blog post, even though we have been around for several years at this point, we thought it would be a perfect time to share a little bit of Reverent's origin story:

Pre-Reverent:

I want to start by honoring an incredible man, Lamont Nash, who passed away at the end of 2023 after battling cancer. He was someone that had full faith in Christ, was always open about his struggles and new ideas, literally always ready to share any story about his life that you wanted to hear, and never knew the meaning of the word quit. He was most passionate about bringing movement into every corner of the community, and used this as his tool to love others from all walks of life.

Both Emic & I had the opportunity to work for Lamont at his gym (Emic for about 6 years, and me for about 2.5 years), before starting Reverent. This is how we first met each other, how we were able to see all that could be possible with these sports, and where we met so many people in the community that we still get to do life with today.

We wouldn't be where we are today without having first experienced Lamont's joy and excitement for this work!

Introducing Reverent:

Reverent School of Movement started in early 2022 with outdoor classes and camps before becoming a full blown Parkour & Calisthenics gym in Fresno, CA.

Parkour and Calisthenics are built on movements that many kids enjoy naturally at the park, on the trampoline, in the pool, or on your couch. Our goal is to use these disciplines to build your child's strength and confidence while finding a love for movement that will stick with them for a lifetime!

Rev·er·ent: Feeling or showing deep and solemn respect

Our mission is to create an environment that encourages personal growth & positive competition, cultivates a joy for movement, and works to serve the community around us.

Check out the slideshow below to see a few memories of our first pieces of equipment being built and highlights of our time at the park!

The "park days" are only one small piece of our beginnings.. tune into the next post where you get a more personal glimpse into our search for a building while welcoming our new baby at home!

If you have been with us since the "park days", enjoy these throwback stories with us and feel free to comment below to share your own.

If you are newer to our Reverent community or haven't heard all these memories before, welcome!

Thank you for being on this adventure with us! :)
